Nasarawa state government laments in flow of quake Journalists in the state

The government of Nasarawa state has today Monday 5th June 2017 decries over fouls activity of some persons allegedly to be pressmen, going round  collecting money from prominent personalities.

Commissioner ministry of information and culture, Hon. Hameed Kwara disclosed this in his office when the state chapter of  NUJ paid him courtesy visit to express the union support and commendation for the government.

The commissioner tasked the the chapter to woke up to their responsibilities, checkmating these fake journalists who go around the state disseminating false information about the government, putting the state in  bad light.

He however, cautioned the NUJ executive to be mindful of the role of social media who is now taking over their function of informing, educating and enlightening the public, adding that they must also go online to report factual and correct report to curtail this medium.

Hon. Kwara assured them of government support to journalist and never to witch hut them as some claimed, pleading they should partner with the government for accurate reportage of its activities.

Speaking on behalf of the officials, Dogo Shama chairman of the NUJ appreciated the present administration for supporting the union, and particularly approving the some of 5 million naira to renovate the press centre, donation of 20 lap tops and promise to build 5 class rooms for the take up of the union Nursery and primary school to boast the income.

Shama said the council remained grateful to the government and will continue to support them by carrying its activity to the general public professionally.
