The All Progressive Congress Governorship candidate in Abia State in the 2015 general elections, Chief Anyim Nyerere, says the insinuations of people in some quarters especially in Abia State that APC in the State is dead is a pure fallacy with no iota of truth.
Comments and questions have been raised in different quarters in Abia State about the state of All Progressive Congress APC after the 2015 general election. And also the recent statements made by an APC chieftain in Abia State Hon. Offor Okorie accusing minister of trade and investment Okechukwu Enelema of abandoning APC in the state.
‘’The Abia State chapter of APC under the leadership of Anyim Nyerere is one of the major political parties that provided strong opposition to the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP in the last governorship election in the state and has continue to criticize constructively the areas they have not done well”.
In an exclusive interview with Peoples Times recently, Nyerere said APC whose time has come is not just a work of man, rather an inspiration, a movement that surround the vision of the 89 people which he was one of them who came together for the emergence of the party.
He said PDP and those who carry the rumour that APC is dead in Abia State are threatened by the activities and moves of the party in the state, adding that apart from in Imo State where there is APC sitting government, there is no other state in South East where there is a vibrant APC as it is in Abia.
“In Abia State when we started APC it was like a white fire that kept the ruling Government on their toes. We were being pursued from pillar to post, because we were not only on ground, but equally on top. And after the inglorious election in Abia, we did not relent rather we continued to thrive to keep the party afloat. We move from a smaller office to a bigger office at mission hill, and the office is fully functional with staff to attend to you any time. We also renewed our offices in most Local Governments unlike other states.
“We did not just come for election; we come to establish an institution that will see to the welfare of our people. And PDP has seen this that is why they are creating all kinds of rumors and insinuations that are untrue. The parameters which they have been operating have been broken.
